Ahsan Manzil Palace was the residence of the Nawab family of Dhaka and the court. It was earlier the palace of Nawabs of Dhaka. Currently, it is used as a museum. Its founder, Nawab Abdul Gani, named him after his son Khwaja Ahsanullah. The construction work of Ahsan Manzil began in 1859 and ended in 1872. In 1906, the decision to establish a Muslim League was held in a meeting held here. Surprisingly, this building is one of Dhaka’s best architectural patterns. And it’s also one of the most beautiful & attractive tourist places in Dhaka. Ahsan Manzil is one of the most significant architectural monuments of Bangladesh. The building structure was established on a raised platform of 1 meter, the two-storied palace measures 125.4m by 28.75m.

The palace Ahsan Manzil is divided into two parts: the eastern side and the western side. The eastern building with the dome is called the Rangmahal and the western side with the living rooms is called Andarmahal. The high octagonal dome is placed on the central round room. There is a large drawing room, card room, library, stateroom and two other guest rooms are located on the east side of the palace. It’s amazing. You can’t describe easily, if you don’t see with your own eyes.

Recognizing the historical and architectural importance of the Ahsan Manzil, the government of Bangladesh took the initiative to renovate it. In 1985 Ahsan Manzil and its surroundings were acquired. After the completion of the renovation work in 1992 under the supervision of the Directorate of Public Works and Architecture, it was brought under the control of Bangladesh national museum (20 September 1992), and it was turned into a Museum. Every day there are coming many foreign and local tourists for visiting this attractive place.

<div id="pg-165-1" class="panel-grid panel-no-style" data-style=
" data-ratio="1" data-ratio-direction="right" >
<div id="panel-165-1-0-0" class="so-panel widget widget_media_gallery panel-first-child panel-last-child" data-index="1" data-style=
tile"}" >[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Gallery"]<input type="hidden" value=
[1771

" />[/siteorigin_widget]

<div id="pg-165-2" class="panel-grid panel-no-style" data-style=
" data-ratio="1" data-ratio-direction="right" >
<div id="panel-165-2-0-0" class="so-panel widget widget_media_gallery panel-first-child panel-last-child" data-index="2" data-style=
tile"}" >[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Gallery"]<input type="hidden" value=
[1772

" />[/siteorigin_widget]

<div id="pg-165-3" class="panel-grid panel-no-style" data-style=
tile
flex-start"}" data-ratio="1" data-ratio-direction="right" ><div id="pgc-165-3-0" class="panel-grid-cell" data-style=
tile
auto"}" data-weight="1" ><div id="panel-165-3-0-0" class="so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child" data-index="3" data-style=
tile"}" >

Visiting hours and entry fees
Inspection schedule
Summer schedule: (April-September) – (Saturday-Wednesday) 10.30 am – 5.30pm Friday – 3.00 pm – 7.30pm
Winter Schedule: (October-March) – (Saturday-Wednesday) 9.30am – 4.30pm Friday – 2.30 pm – 7.30pm
Thursday – Weekly holidays and another public holiday the Ahsan Manzil will be closed.
Ticket Price
Bangladeshi Citizens: 20 Taka
Citizens of SAARC Countries: 20 Taka
Other Foreign Citizens: 100 Taka

How to go there?
It’s located on the bank of the Buriganga River in Old Dhaka, Islampur.
