Sundarbans

Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in Bangladesh. It’s also the largest mangrove forest in the world. Sundarbans is located in the coastal region of the Bay of Bengal. It is a vast forest which is one of the natural wonders of the world. It is a World Heritage Site recognized and compiled by UNESCO. Sundarbans was recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Expand across Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Patuakhali, and Barguna districts of Bangladesh and the two districts of West Bengal state of India expand across North 24 Pargana and South 24 Pargana. As the largest mangrove forest in the coastal environment, the Sundarbans is the world’s largest integrated forest. The Sundarbans, which is spread over 10,000 square kilometers, has 6,017 square kilometers in Bangladesh and the rest is in India.

Name of Bangladesh and Indian part respectively “Sundarbans” and “Sundarbans National Park”. Sundarbans is so beautiful and attractive one of the forest in Bangladesh. It’s amazing. In the Sundarbans, there are marine streams, mud spy and small-scale archipelago with saltwater mangrove forests. 31.1 percent of the total forest area, which is 1,874 square kilometers, includes riverine, inlet and of water zones. On 21 May 1992, the Sundarbans were recognized as the place of Ramsagar.

There is a wide variety of wildlife in the Sundarbans. And also there are abundant trees in Sundarbans. According to Preen’s estimation in 1903, there are a total of 245 species and 334 species of plants. After Preen’s report, there has been a significant change in the various mangrove species and their classification. The main forest variations of the Sundarbans are abundant in Heritiera fomes, Excoecaria agallocha, Sonneratia apetala and Ceriops decandra. The nature of the forest has been searched very rarely to keep track of these changes. Although most mangroves in other parts of the world have the capacities of Rhizophoraceae, Avicenneaceae or Laganculariaceae, the number of trees of Sterculiaceae and Euphorbiaceae is rare in the mangroves of Bangladesh.
There are many wild animals in the Sundarbans. In addition to the famous Royal Bengal Tiger in the Sundarbans, many species of birds, Chitra deer, crocodiles, and snakes are also known as habitats of species. According to the survey, 500 tigers and 30,000 Chitra deer are now in the Sundarbans area. The most important part of the Royal Bengal Tiger (Panthera Tigris) is here. There are also approximately 50 species of mammals, 320 species of residential and migratory birds, about 50 species of reptiles, 8 species of amphibians and about 400 species of fish.

Sundarbans is not behind the tourism center. Every year, thousands of tourists are coming here from the local country and foreign tourists. Sundarbans is so attractive place in Bangladesh. There you could see much more trees and wild animals. As a result of the arrival of foreign tourists, some foreign currencies are also added as our national income. Charming natural environment and rich in the footsteps of various wildlife because of this is an adventurous attraction for forest tourists. In the Sundarbans, Katka, Hiron Point, Dublar Char and Tiger Point are the main attractions for tourists. Apart from impressive natural beauty at these places, wild animals can easily be seen by tourists. And for the tourists with the observation tower, there is a facility like a guest center.

How to go there?

There are many buses, trains, and launches from Dhaka directly to Khulna. AC and non-AC buses have two types of buses. The purpose of Khulna is to travel from Dhaka to Sohag Transport, Hanif Enterprise, and Eagle Transport regularly. From 6 am to 11 pm, the buses go to Khulna from Dhaka. It takes 7 hours 45 minutes to reach from Dhaka to Khulna. For the purpose of Khulna leaving to the regular launch of various companies from Sadarghat Launch Terminal of Dhaka. By the river: From Khulna Launchghat, going to the Sundarbans via the launch. Besides you can easily go to Sundarbans from Khulna by public buses or CNG.

 

Where you’ll be stay?

There are many hotels and resort in here. In the Sundarbans sanctuary, there are Tourist Vessel, Nilkamal Tiger of Hiranpoints, Kanchikhali at Point, and Katakaya Forest Department’s rest house. The fee for Nilkamal for local tourists is Tk 3000 per room, four rooms 12 thousand Tk. Kanchikhali per room Tk 3,000, four rooms 10 thousand Tk. Cutka per room Tk 2000, two rooms 4000 Tk. For foreigners, Nilkamal 5000 and Tk 20,000, Kanchikhali 5 thousand and 15 thousand Tk and Cutka 5 thousand and 10 thousand Tk. The Satkhira town has a general standard hotel beside the Sundarbans. There is the tourism corporation hotel in Mongla, and there is a general hotel in the port of Parsu for tourists to stay. There are many hotels, resort in Khulna city. You can also stay here.
