Ahsan Manzil is located on the bank of the Buriganga River in Islampur of Old Dhaka. Ahsan Manzil Palace was the residence of the Nawab family of Dhaka and the court. It was earlier the palace of Nawabs of Dhaka. Currently, it is used as a museum. Its founder, Nawab Abdul Gani, named him after his son Khwaja Ahsanullah. The construction work of Ahsan Manzil began in 1859 and ended in 1872.
